Finally Men are being recognized!

The world once perceived 'The Male' of the species to be the dominant force. But over the past 50 years the world has shifted its focus towards gender equality. However in doing so the world has developed a  problem which sees a staggeringly unequal number of women to men past the secondary level. Just like any rare species in nature the dominant males are becoming endangered with the female of the species taking dominance.
Mind you I have no problem with gender equality or female leadership, but to have a truly equal society, men and women should be on the same level. In many of our societies this simply does not exist. Women have made strides in Education, where at the tertiary level there is a minimal to significant disparity between the two sexes. Women have advocated for equal benefits and equal pay and many men have become unemployed as result of these actions. One other important thing to note so I do not sound too masculine is that this disparity outlook has allowed men to look to other forms of activities of an illegal nature which has left prisons almost full. Rendering men the disadvantaged sex.
For many years the women have described as the fairer sex, but recent with women than men in the workplace, in schools and in society; we must wonder have men become the weaker or less dominant sex?

Recently I discovered that Monday November 19,2012 will be recognized as International Men's Day. In fact the 11th Anniversary. The focus for this year is on Health: Helping Men and Boys, Live Longer ,Happier and Healthier Lives. Specific areas include:

1. Improving male life expectancy
2. Helping men get help
3.Improving boys education
4.Tackling tolerance and violence against men and boys
5.Promoting fathers and positive male role models

This focus is behind the backdrop that Violence against men and boys though not a empathized as violence towards women in an important issue which needs to be dealt with. Men also need to be encourage speak up about violence, their feeling and health conditions they have.
One of the leading causes of cancer related deaths among men in Prostate Cancer which is one of the few 100% treatable cancer one screening is done. It is my believe it is better to live and have a good rest of your than to die and leave your family in want.
The other major issue is that boys are lacking role positive role models and fathers because of too many unwanted pregnancies. As a man owning up to your child is one of the greatest things you could do even if you have no feelings for the mother.
So as we look to recognize IMD (International Men's Day ) we acknowledge that even though as men we not seek or look out for help but it is well needed.

The Economic issue is the less men that are available, the less productive an economy will become.
