Getting Married: A Good Choice or Mistake?

Statistics show that 50% of all marriages end in divorce and the rates are higher the more marriages you have. The top 5 reasons why people get divorced are:
1. Poor Communication
2. Finances
3. Abuse
4. Loss of Attraction
5. Infidelity.

The rate at which divorces occur has allowed for a natural market for divorce lawyers as people want to maximize their gains from the settlement process. As economists we do not have a problem with divorce but the rationality of individuals is brought into question as they are the ones who choose to get married in the first place.

Why get married if you have the slightest hint of the idea that you would get divorced in a few years. For love many say, or for lust I say. So do you want to get married still?

Let's really take a look at what could be going on, the most popular reasons behind people getting  married are :
1. Money
2. Sex
3. Security
4. Because everybody else is doing
5. Children

The average marriage today is expected not to last if the average getting to know you period is less than one year. In a year you should be able to do a comprehensive cost-benefit analysis on the individual you wish to enter into nuptials with.
