The Real Cost of the Jamaican Dream....'$500K/month



Everyone wants to live  a good life where they are comfortable and the stresses of not having enough money do exist however, the majority over their lifetimes will never attain the Jamaican dream. But for those of us who can manufacture the opportunity here's a little guide to how much the dream will cost you and how much you need to make.

Housing: For those who choose to build the cost will be different however if you choose to live in the city areas a nice home in a affluent neighborhood will cost you about J$17-$40 million so a monthly mortgage will be about $34000/month

Vehicle: You will want to drive a nice car or two, for a family of about four two vehicles including an SUV minimum with a monthly upkeep of about $115000-130000.

Educational Expenses: Monthly fees fro your children's schooling and/or for yourself will run you $20000

Utilities: Here is the money kicker depending on the size of house however you can plan to spend $30000 on all utilities including power, water, cable, land line and internet

Clothing: Since you don't want to wear out your clothes considering you active lifestyle you can stand to spend around $35000- $40000 monthly if you buy locally however you can s ave f you shop once or twice a year when you go abroad that will bring the apparel/clothing expense down to about 15000-20000

Family Allowance: Since the rest f the family needs money too you budget to spend 50-60k on allowances to your children and spouse. Hopefully you both work good jobs so you you can lessen that load

Chores and Housekeeping: Since you swork hard on the job you will most likely hire someone to help you around the house depending on the arrangement that should cost you between 20-40k per month. Nobody works for minimum wage  

Entertainment: $10000

Eating out: $15000

Groceries :$76000

Miscellaneous: $30000

Investment/Saving: $40000

Insurance : $40000, Health, Life and Auto


Total : $465000 give or take 35 for incidentals so approximately 480 k or just under half a million dollars per month for the Jamaican dream

This means that you must have a gross combined salary annually of around  $7 million dollars
