1 Cookie or 1000 cookies

The principle of non-satiation is probably the best way to explain how and why we overindulge in our favorite foods. The principle states that more will always be preferred to less and there tends to be some truth to that.

To prove this hypothesis, if I were to display a picture of one cookie and a  picture of a thousand cookies your focus would almost certainly shift from the single cookie to the picture with the 1000 cookies. Why? Humans are innately greedy. Many us might not want to admit to that but if you could chow down without ever felling guilty my bet is that you definitely would chow down like there is no tomorrow.

But with all this being said, many of us watch; our weight, our eating patterns and the content of what we intake. Some more religiously than others, but through some mild reading and personal observation our cultural perception of food has a lot to do with how we eat as well our budget.

Do you think the poor eat more than the rich do?

You may surprised to know that persons who have higher incomes may consume more expensive foods however the volume of food that they intake is by far less than those persons who have lower incomes.They eat cheaper food items but most times in large quantities.

I'm sure you seen a skinny person finish a bigger plate of food than a fatter person? Any ideas?

Some nutritionists believe that this phenomenon occurs due to higher metabolic rates and thus the slimmer persons converts the food to energy much faster than fatter ones. But another side to this theory, is what are the activities of these persons. Observations show that slimmer persons lead a more active lifestyle than fatter ones and thus need the additional energy.

Americanized=Super-sized=Obesitized!

The USA is known to be the fattest country in the world in a couple ways but today, I'll just focus on waste sizes and portions.
Statistics show that 65% of America's population is  overweight with 30% being obese and just about half the the obese population is morbidly obese. But in the land where unhealthy things are cheap, fast food is a staple and candy is synonymous with every holiday what do expect. Majority of working class Americans and Jamaicans I could add do not lift a leg to exercise or put the forks fast enough and many jobs seriously do not allow the employees to adopt healthy patterns.

Do think that employers could take some blame for groggy, overweight and dead beat 9-5 employees?Maybe

Even though our health is our responsibility, when someone is down your throat or you have deadlines to make, kids to pick up from school, dinner to prepare, meetings to attend and any other component to the stressful life of an employee the diet tends to be the thing that is affected the most.
The few times i have been in a working class situation I have observed and experienced the long hours and busy schedules that many employees face and my diet and healthy patterns did take a battering and laziness kicked in very often.

Would you believe that Lazy, unhealthy and undertaken care  workers is the main cause for loss of productivity in many business and professional areas.

Did You ever think that your diet is important to how successful you could be at work?
