How much children is too much?

For generations before our time, the act of copulating and rearing children was not just an act of procreation but an act of sure survival of a name or brand or just the fact that people need sex and contraception was not that popular. 

In I recent article of mine, I mentioned that current pursuits of education and wealth have allowed the middle class and wealthy to have less children than the poorer classes and this is simply due to fact that the upper classes are more educated than the lower classes. 

But who is better able to afford eight children? A rich or poor family? Obviously the rich family, but who has eight children ? The poor families. 

So here we physically see that we have problems in caring for our population. Here in Jamaica poorer women produce the bulk of the children and these same women have to live on welfare and depend on men who are not maritally associated with them. This has far reaching implications as the welfare programs cause added strain on government spending and the dependency on non-marital relations leads to the procreation of more children causing a constant poor-welfare cycle.

What can we do? 

China in 1979 implemented a family planning program to control population growth more popularly known as the 'One child policy'. The world at the time looked down on China for implementing such an inhumane policy that lead to many social problems such as the one they have now where many men cannot find a Chinese wife. There are actually more problems than we state but let us say that the government of Jamaica was to implement at this point family planning restrictions which allow families to only produce no more than 4 children with multiple birth variations(i.e quintuplets and sextuplets) being the only exceptions. To me this idea seems reasonable apart from the fact that I derived the policy. This is due to economic reasons. 

But some people may argue that  children not only need money but are in need of care and nurture, but sensibly having 8 children you as one mother cannot care for all eight the same way and you will force older children to parent younger ones, causing more problems. 

So for the sake of the betterment of humanity have the amount of children you can manage nuh man!
