2 cents on Millennial Entitlement

Hi, My Name is Mikol and I'm entitled.

This might be how I'd introduce my self at an "Entitled Millenials Anonymous" Meeting if corporations were to start setting up these events for their millennial employees.

An entitlement is a right to a  particular privilege or benefit, granted by law or custom. You have a legal entitlement to speak to a lawyer if you're ever arrested and put in jail. But the world has described Millenials as entitled because of the way we think. But what if we thought about the connotation differently.

Instead of viewing entitlement as a sense that the universe owes us something that we may not have earned, many view entitlement as the right to go after big goals and aim high — without asking for permission from gatekeepers and authority figures.
I don't think they call us entitled because we are narcissistic but because we challenge the norm and the status quo. There is a well-established idea about paying your dues, starting from the bottom and working your way up. We are a generation that doesn't like that concept. So far our generation has the highest start-up entrepreneurs ever because we live in a world that is all about now. We don't want to enjoy ourselves in retirement where we can't do the things we want because we have health issue from our bad eating habits, we want to live in a world where we can experience as much as possible as soon as possible.

And there is anything wrong with that.

But the previous generation does have a point, the self-absorbed narcissistic behaviors are somewhat true for many Millennials, News flash though if there is any blame to be had it's of the previous generation.

Here are some millennial views:

"The problem with my generation is that everyone thinks they're special,"

"Because there are too many unqualified idiots going to college and then expecting to be set for life with no further effort."

We have created the world where we have pumped so much self-esteem into our children that when they become adults they still need people telling them that they're special or superstars or princesses. This spills into the classroom where students believe hey they should be spoon fed the information, they don't want to learn because they've been coddled for so long!

GROW UP, LIFE ISN'T FAIR AND PEOPLE AREN 'T

Be entitled but not for nothing, there is no such thing as a free lunch. If we want to most out of life we still have to work for what we want! only babies are spoon fed!
