PNP and JLP are not the Problem, We are!
The PNP anti campaign against Andrew Holness is childish and a desperate attempt to hold on to reigns of power. The hostage situation regarding the National Debates shows an un-evolved modus operandi and wanton disregard for the Jamaican electorate. It is clear that the PNP is not ready to leave government and is desperately trying to keep things the way they are. Not having debates does not cater to people on the fence and people who vote based on issues and action, not just talking.
The last article I wrote was about the young vote, but for the other apathetic voters, the majority technically does not rule. The last government was elected by 28% of the electorate, which is by no means a majority. The PNP wishes for the trend to continue because it has a larger grass roots base than the JLP does. If we are to critically analyse grass roots affiliations, we would recognize that people are aligned to political parties based on either family tradition, what the party has done for them or who the leader is. But as Jamaicans we must truly understand that Neither Norman or Michael Manley, Edward Seaga, PJ Patterson nor Bruce Golding are on the ticket and parties evolve with the times. So what the party was back then may not necessarily be the party you support now.
Thirdly, the Middle class is the majority not the lower class, most middle class Jamaicans will not attend political meetings/rallies, or drive out their gas on motorcades. They sit at home and watch the news, and discuss issues or have no time to focus on politics whatsoever. Many believe that there is no difference between the two parties and they remain apathetic. But let us not forget that there is strength in numbers and more people sit around and discuss issues than those who are willing to fight the issues. Lets us begin to be catalysts, our country cannot change if we continue along the path we are on. I speaking beyond party politics, the problem is not the parties it our political philosophy. the way which we view the affairs of our country
